Privacy Policy

StepCounter.com — Step Counter, Water & Walking Plans

Effective date: June 26, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how StepCounter.com (the “App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), operated by Smriti Tomer, handles information when you use our iOS application. We built the App to keep your personal fitness data on your device. Please read this policy together with Apple’s Privacy Policy.

The short version

  • Your health, step, route, weight, and water data are stored only on your device — we don’t run servers that collect them.
  • We read steps and distance from Apple Health and the motion sensor to show your progress. We never use Health data for advertising.
  • The App shows ads via Google AdMob and asks your permission (App Tracking Transparency) before using your advertising identifier for personalized ads. You can decline, or remove ads with a subscription.
  • Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple; we never see your payment details.
  • You can revoke any permission in iOS Settings, or delete the App to erase all local data.

1. Information we collect

a. Information stored on your device

The following is created and stored locally on your iPhone (in the App’s storage) and is not transmitted to us:

b. Information collected by third-party SDKs

To show ads and operate the App, we include software development kits (SDKs) from Google and Apple. These may collect information as described in Section 5, including:

c. Purchases

In-app purchases (a one-time “new plan” and monthly/yearly Premium subscriptions) are processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive confirmation of entitlements from Apple but do not collect or store your payment-card information.

d. Notifications

If you enable reminders (daily walk, water, weekly weigh-in, step progress), they are scheduled as local notifications on your device. We do not send push notifications from a server.

2. How we use information

3. Apple Health (HealthKit)

With your permission, the App reads your step count and walking/running distance from Apple Health to display today’s progress and to save battery. The App only reads from Apple Health — it does not write any data back.

We do not use any data obtained through HealthKit for advertising or marketing, and we do not share it with any third party or sell it. Health data is processed on your device only. You can review or revoke Health access at any time in Settings ▸ Health ▸ Data Access & Devices.

4. Advertising & App Tracking Transparency

Free users see ads provided by Google AdMob. When you first open the App, iOS asks whether you allow tracking (Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt):

You can change this anytime in Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Tracking. You can also remove all ads by purchasing a Premium subscription. Learn more about how Google uses data in apps that use its services in Google’s “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services”.

5. Third-party services

We rely on the following third parties. Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies:

Google FirebaseApp infrastructure / diagnosticsfirebase.google.com/support/privacy

6. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. Because your fitness data lives on your device, we have nothing of yours on a server to share. The limited data collected by the SDKs above is shared with those providers solely to deliver ads, process payments, and operate the App, as described in their policies. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.

7. Data retention

Data you create stays on your device until you delete it in the App or remove the App. We do not retain copies on our own servers. Data handled by third-party SDKs is retained according to their policies. Apple retains purchase records per Apple’s policy.

8. Security

Your on-device data is protected by iOS’s app sandbox and device security (passcode/biometrics, and encryption when your device is locked). No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but keeping data on your device significantly reduces exposure.

9. Your choices & rights

10. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

11. International users

The App can be used worldwide. Third-party providers may process data in countries other than your own; their policies describe the safeguards they use for international transfers.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Effective date” above and, for material changes, provide a notice in the App or on this page. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
